When the 2018 Golden Globes kick off on Sunday, Jan. 7, at 8 p.m. ET, two young actors have the chance to take the stage and accept one of the biggest awards in showbiz. Katherine Langford, 21, earned a nomination for her role in Netflix’s series 13 Reasons Why (in the Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series – Drama category), while Timothée Chalamet, 22, is up for the Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama award for Call Me by Your Name.
While it’s certainly impressive that these two newcomers have earned nominations for the prestigious awards, they’re not the youngest actors to be nominated or win Golden Globes. That honor goes to Ricky Schroder (above), who won the Golden Globe in 1980 for New Star of the Year in a Motion Picture – Male at just 9 years old. The young actor took home the award for his role in The Champ, a 1979 sports drama also starring Jon Voight and Faye Dunaway. The category that Ricky won was later discontinued following the 1983 Golden Globes ceremony
